MUMBAI: IIT-Bombay has unveiled a brand-new, state-of-the-art dining facility on its campus, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance student life. The modern dining hall, located in Hostel 4—which is currently undergoing reconstruction—now stands as the largest of its kind on the Powai campus, offering a contemporary and comfortable space for students to dine, socialize, and unwind. The project was made possible through the generous contribution of alumnus Dr Pramod Chaudhari, founder and chairman of Praj Industries Limited, who once called Hostel 4 his home during his undergraduate years. In recognition of his lifelong engagement with the institute and his enduring commitment to supporting its growth, IIT-Bombay has named the newly reconstructed facility in his honour. This initiative is part of IIT-Bombay’s broader transformation agenda, aimed at creating a holistic learning environment that extends well beyond academic classrooms. The institute is making substantial investments to enhance student living and learning experiences, emphasising that a thriving campus community is essential for personal development. Modern hostels, well-equipped dining facilities, and thoughtfully designed community spaces are seen as critical in nurturing student well-being, fostering collaboration, and cultivating a strong sense of belonging.Over the years, Dr Chaudhari has been an active supporter of IIT-Bombay, contributing to numerous initiatives that advance the institute’s mission of excellence in education, research, and innovation. His support has not only helped enhance infrastructure but has also strengthened programs that benefit the entire student community, reflecting his enduring dedication to giving back to the alma mater that shaped his early years.
