HYDERABAD: Prime Minister on Thursday virtually inaugurated Hyderabad-based spacetech startup Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity campus on the outskirts of Hyderabad and also unveiled Skyroot’s first commercial orbital rocket, Vikram-I, that will ferry satellites to into low Earth orbit (LEO).The state-of-the-art facility is spread over 2 lakh sq ft for designing, developing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles. The facility will have a capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.Skyroot co-founder Naga Bharath Daka said the startup will be investing around Rs 1000 crore as part of its efforts to develop rapid and on-demand rocket manufacturing and launch capabilities.In November 2022, Skyroot became the first private company in India to successfully launch a rocket into space with its sub-orbital rocket, Vikram-S.Skyroot was set up in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Dhaka, both of whom are alumni of Indian Institutes of Technology and former scientists of Isro.
