In what can only be termed as most unfortunate, Congress-led opposition’s move to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla marks a new low in trust between govt and rival political parties. The no-trust move, signed by 119 MPs, excludes Trinamool.
It signals a new and more bitter phase in political confrontation that cannot but be detrimental to the country’s interests. The global climate for India’s growth and security has worsened. It follows that both govt and opposition must seek consensus rather than conflict.
