Meet Deetya and Shambhavi: The stars of my IndiGo Flight 6E 292 from Kolkata to Ahmedabad. Yes, that’s a trash bag and a small black wire in my hand.
I have a power bank given as a gift from my wife, which only works with the original wire.
Mid-flight, I accidentally tossed that little wire into the trash collection bag along with my sandwich wrapper.
As I started to watch Man Vs Baby on Netflix, I tried to put my phone to charge and saw there was no wire.
Deetya saw me a little anxious and offered to help right away by looking all around the chair. When I realised it must be inside the trash bag, she and Shambhavi gloved up and began searching the smelly trash, sifting half-eaten sandwiches, roasted rice crackers and spilt Coke. They actually moved the trash one by one from one bag to another bag.
Finally, at the very bottom, we found the wire, completely drenched in soda. Shambhavi cleaned it dry before handing it to me.
In these challenging times with man-made problems and god-made problems (fog), I wish Indigo and all other airline crews my very best.
